Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

It is most important that you are comfortable. Basic athletic or workout attire is helpful, especially for the initial evaluation.

HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?

Both the initial evaluation and follow up treatments are 45 minutes in duration. For your first session, the physical therapist will complete a detailed history and evaluation in order to find the source of your current condition or injury.

DO I NEED A PRESCRIPTION FROM A DOCTOR?

In the state of Virginia, physical therapy services can be provided without a physician referral for up to 30 days. After that time period, if you need further care, a physician script for physical therapy must be provided. We are happy to communicate with your doctor and/or provide documentation notes if needed.

WHAT PORTION WILL I BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Spero Physical Therapy has chosen to work outside of commercial insurance plans and operates as a “fee-for-service” physical therapy clinic. This means that payment for physical therapy services is due in full at the time of service. Not being a preferred provider with any insurance company allows Spero Physical Therapy to provide you with the highest quality of care. Our physical therapists are able to create individualized treatment plans that are tailored to your specific needs, not by insurance company restrictions.

HOW MANY VISITS WILL IT BE?

After your evaluation, your physical therapist will give you an estimate of many visits it will take to work toward the goals you have decided on together.

CAN I SUBMIT OUT OF NETWORK CLAIMS TO MY INSURANCE?

If your insurance policy has out-of-network benefits, a portion of Spero Physical Therapy’s fees may be covered. We encourage you to contact your insurance company before your first visit about your out-of-network benefits and what those benefits include, as every plan is different. Our office will collect all insurance information from you upon your first visit and will submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf. We are happy to provide you with any other documentation at your or your insurance company’s request. The amount of reimbursement you receive will be dependent on the specific out-of-network policy you have with your insurance company. Spero Physical Therapy cannot make guarantees or estimates regarding the amount of reimbursement you will receive from your insurance company.

WHAT IF I HAVE MEDICARE?

Spero Physical Therapy is not enrolled with Medicare and does not possess a Medicare number for claim submissions. This means that we are not permitted to perform any covered services for patients who have Medicare. We are able to provide services that address fitness, wellness, prevention or maintenance as these services are not covered by Medicare. This means that Medicare will not reimburse for physical therapy services at Spero Physical Therapy. Claims cannot be submitted to Medicare or a secondary insurance provider by you or by our office. If you have any additional questions about this please contact us at info@speropt.com
